Oh, hi.

Welcome to extraextrastyle, a place for big & tall guys like me to celebrate their love for fashion - and themselves.

The Best Non-Greasy Moisturizers for Your Body, Hands, and Feet

The Best Non-Greasy Moisturizers for Your Body, Hands, and Feet

The only thing worse than dry skin is greasy skin. Pick the wrong moisturizer and your sheets, socks, and/or clothes are stuck to you like your junior high nickname. Gross and no thanks.

But luckily for you I’ve done the hard work of testing the squillions of moisturizers out there to find the ones that are both hydrating and non-greasy. You’re welcome.

For Your Feet - You’ve got two choices, and two choices only:

Lush Pink Peppermint Foot Lotion - Look past the gnarly image on the Lush website (above) and you’ll find a silky smooth foot lotion with a pleasing peppermint scent. I use this every night and live to type about it. It’s hydrating on my feet but not on my sheets.

Packed with organic shea butter

L’Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream - This is another banger, this time packed with organic shea butter. Again hydrating and non-greasy, with a light clean scent. It’s super satisfying to roll the tube up as you use it; it’s less less satisfying when you drop the tiny cap and it rolls under the bed (ask me how I know).

For Your Hands

Not all Mario Badescu Hand Creams are created equal

Mario Badescu Hydrating Hand Cream - Mario Badescu was the first fancy skincare I bought on my own, so it still has a soft spot in my heart. What doesn’t have a soft spot? Their Rose Hand Cream. Yuck. But the Hydrating Hand Cream is the best - lightweight, absorbs quickly, with a hint of cooling peppermint. Yes please.

Made in France

Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream - Oooooh boy this is a good one. The perfect light texture, it leaves my hands (and my jaggedy cuticles) silky soft. This is another one with shea butter - coincidence??? It has a light, pleasing scent. I put this on when I’m watching TV and I can still expertly operate the remote and punch up the Real Housewives episode du jour. Plus it’s made in France, and everyone knows that French skincare = chic.

For the Body

More Clarins, more shea butter

Clarins Moisture-Rich Body Lotion - I have to confess: the words “Mosture-Rich” on the tube scared me away from this product for years. Big mistake. This features a light, quickly absorbing formula that is still, well, moisture rich. This is another product with shea butter (I promise I’m not being paid by the international shea butter lobby). If you can buy it at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, do it - they have the most delightful older (mature? wise?) counter worker there who never fails to make me laugh - and give me about 3,000 samples.

A can of moisturizer?

Flamingo Light Hydrating Spray - This was the first spray can of moisturizer I’ve ever used, and it’ll be my last - because I’ll never need to look for another: this one’s the best. This moisturizer is, dare I say, REFRESHING! It’s light enough for summer, but hydrating enough for winter, and you can’t beat the price. I learned the hard way that it feels cold when it comes out of the can, so I spray it into my hand rather than onto my body directly.

Any other great lightweight moisturizers out there that I should try? Let me know!
