NYDTC: Not Your Daughter's Taper Candles
A few weekends ago I gathered my gays and made the 90-minute trip from Manhattan to Westport, CT. Was our goal an afternoon by the sea? No. Instead, we (I) were desperate to check out Terrain. Not familiar with Terrain? Well, it’s an upscale plant store with an upscale gift shop and upscale cafe. Keyword? Upscale.
I was looking for new taper candles to replace the dusty off-white pair I’ve had on our dining table since we moved in (note that they’re off-white, not Off-White which would be super cool). Our living room and dining area are part of the same space, so I wanted to upgrade them to something that looked a little less like an afterthought.
Terrain to the rescue! I came across this set, but I wasn’t prepared for just how upscale candles have gotten since I last looked at them with my mother in a local gift shop circa 1994:
I love the Maple Stick Candles, but I don’t love the price so I let my fingers do the walking, and came across a few (more affordable, still cool) sets. Check them out here:
These Dusen Dusen guys are bright and juicy and perfect for spring:
HEY I love these stripeys from Hay:
I saved the funkiest for last - this set of twisty sticks has me, well, twisted!
What do you think? Any of these likely to take your tabletop to a ten at your next Friendsgiving?
