10 Questions With: Blogger, Entrepreneur, Megababe, and BFF Katie Sturino
Katie is the person who told me I should start a blog, so if you enjoy what you're seeing around here you've got her to thank. And if you don't enjoy what you're seeing around here...well, 1. F you and 2. blame her.
She's a blogger, beauty entrepreneur, pet rescue advocate and mom to the world's cutest dogs. But, more importantly than all that, she's my friend. If I want company on the sofa while I #netflixandchill - it's Katie I call. If I want a weekend adventure outside of NYC, it's Katie I call (and Katie's Volvo I drive). And when I say "call," I actually do mean "call" - she's also the only person in my contacts for whom I actually pick up the phone (sorry, Mom).
So who better to be the first lady to participate in my "10 Questions With" series than Katie, my very own First Lady?
What is your favorite part of being big and/or tall?
I can see over people's heads in a crowd and I can lift my own suitcase on an airplane.
What is the hardest part of being big and/or tall?
Shopping!
If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A caftan and sneakers.
What is one fashion item every person should own?
An investment handbag.
What are your go-to stores or sites for clothes?
Barneys men's shoe department, Net-a-Porter, Co-Edition, and Iro.
What do you wish retailers would do differently?
Invite everyone to the party! Stop making women go online to buy their size if you offer it, just put it in the store! Use plus size models in the campaigns so I can see how it will look on my own body.
What does being “body positive” mean to you?
It means accepting yourself as is. Not walking by the mirror every morning and telling yourself how bad you look. Not obsessing about what your pant size is or your weight.
What is your biggest style regret?
Wearing UGGs to my first week at work as an assistant at Dolce & Gabbana.
