Oh, hi.

Welcome to extraextrastyle, a place for big & tall guys like me to celebrate their love for fashion - and themselves.

Let me set the scene for you.

It’s 2005, and I’m a high-powered fashion publicist living out my Sex and the City dreams. And yes, by “high-powered” mean “entry-level” and by “fashion” I mean I worked at GUESS. You can decide if that counts as fashion or not. Anywho - I go to some party, and in the gift bag was a tube of Bumble & bumble’s Grooming Creme.

My life changed. It was the only hair product I had ever used that had given me hold, shine, and control but wasn’t crunchy, greasy, waxy, or flakey. It’s all I used for the next 13 years. It was a fixture of my medicine cabinet - and Christmas lists - ever since.

Until now. I was lucky enough to have the Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Air Dry Creme blast into my life about a month ago. I’ve had mixed experience with Kristin Ess in the past (the shampoo I tried changed texture and smelled funky after just a few weeks), but this stuff is good. Is it Bumble & bumble good? Nearly. I LOVE the smell, the shine, and it makes my hair so, so soft. The only thing keeping it from perfection? There is a slight crunch factor at the beginning. You can “break up the crunch” and move on with your day just fine, I wish it wasn’t there at all. But the best part? The Kristin Ess is $10 compared to Bumble & bumble’s $31.

But honestly, you can’t go wrong with either. What’s product has been in your beauty routine the longest?
