Fat Friendly Fashion Week Looks
Fashion week has wrapped in NYC, and the fashion pack is off to perfect their street-style posing in Europe. I pored through the pics I took from the front row (and by that I mean I clicked through Vogue.com because I was invited to exactly one show) to find the looks that I think work on both 110 lb models and also on folks with a little more to love.
Below are some of the Spring 2018 looks I love and why I think they'll work.
Grey on grey on grey on grey all day. And yes, it's "grey" not "gray" because we are all fancy people around here. Few things are chicer - or more flattering - than tone-on-tone dressing. I mean, a vintage Mercedes wagon with prep school stickers on the back window is chicer, but we can't re-write history. These exact pieces may not be you, and that's ok - just take the concept and apply it to pieces you like and it'll work.
Baby blue might not be your jam, I get it. But you know what should be? A loose, printed pant with a front-tucked oversized top. The front-tuck keeps it from being shapeless, and the printed pant says r*i*c*h. It's loose so it's comfortable, but the print keeps it elevated. Who doesn't want to look rich?

(L) A collegiate, v-neck sweater draws the eye up and down. #slimming. Sometimes when I wear a crewneck I feel like I'm a bowling ball (head) on top of a beach ball (belly). Two balls too many. A v-neck alleviates this problem, and the contrast sleeves are a nice touch too. They break up the torso so you don't look like one big blob (or block, depending on your body shape). Ditch the shiny pants.
(R) Big, small, old, young, everyone looks good in a tropical shirt. By design they're forgiving: roomy, square cut and a pattern that keeps the eye moving.
The way to wear oversized when you ARE oversized is to mix in slim-cut pieces. This jacket works because the pants are slim.
See the difference?
And for the last look:
I just put this here to see if you were still reading. This is a no. This does not work on the model and will not work on you.
